DOROTHY F. FORD’S maternal great-grandfather was on the last known slave ship (Clotilda) to arrive in America in a place now called Africatown (AL). She is the seventh of eleven children born to Nathan D. and Ora A. Floyd.

She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, a Life Master Bridge Player in the American Contract Bridge League and is listed in the 1978 International Who’s Who of Intellectuals, Volume III. She was secretary of The Executive Board of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera Company in 1982 and President of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera Company in 1983. She was the Managing Director of the Africatown Folk Festival in 1986, 1987 and 1988.

A world traveler, she founded The Ora A. Floyd Foundation in the United States and Liberia , West Africa . Humanitarian work in Liberia and Nigeria placed her in Who’s Who in International Community Service and World Who’s Who of Women.

Educated at Alabama State University, Xavier University; B.S. Pharmacy, Los Angeles City College, University of California Los Angeles, University of Wisconsin and California Technical University; M/Doctorate in Economics. She was a business consultant in Nigeria , West Africa , CEO of Vermont Pharmacy, Clotilda International, Pine Forge Industries and J & D Tenkerkare.

She is a published Author and Poet. She enjoys swimming, spectator sports, contract bridge and public speaking.
